The Ambassador of Ecuador in Tehran believes that propagandas produced by some medias, especially from US Press, prevent Iran from being seen clearly by the world and affect Iran’s image in a global arena.

Dr. Alejandro Ortega Almeida, during his visit to the 33rd International Tourism Exhibition and the 13th National Handicrafts Exhibition, was interviewed by CHNT in the public relations department.

He believes Iran is a safe country and people are hospitable toward international tourists. “If Iran’s real image, security and hospitality is promoted to the world, tourism industry will prosper.” Said Dr. Ortega.

Below is the full interview:

How is Iran from your point of view?

Perfect, it is been tree years that I live in Iran as ambassador, Iran is amazing, I love the Iranians and its unique culture. A country with a 2500 years history of culture, treats international tourists very well.

How much your people know Iran?

It is somehow hard to answer, we are in American continent and people know other countries according to the news the read, but if they travel to Iran they will understand some of the news are not true and Iran is rich with culture.

Do they feel safe in the case of travelling to Iran?

I think so, we encounter street violence in Ecuador and gunmen wander fearlessly that makes you life at risk.

Do you think your people are interested in visiting Iran?

I think Iran should work more on its tourist attractions and promote them. You know them all because you are here but people outside like in my country, are more in touch with western media.

How much have you seen Iran during these three years?

I’ve seen many cities, Lorestan, Kermanshah, Isfahan, Shiraz, and many other historical cities. During these trips I’ve seen many different traditions and cultures. I think I’ve seen Iran as much as an Iranian.

Do we have potential to attract tourist from Ecuador?

Long distance and the transport expense, reduce tourist’s number, but if there will be some combined tours with other countries it will upgrade the chance.

Do you have income tourist from Iran?

We have a few, due to the cancellation of visa for short time, three months, also about 1000 Iranian nationals live in Ecuador and they have visitors. Apart from that, some similarities in culture, makes living easy for Iranians.

Do your people concern about the Iran arrival stamp in their passport?

Yes they are, we are on the border with United State and people frequently Commuting for business, in the case that Iran omit that, it will be better for us.
