The opening ceremony of "The International Tourism and Handicrafts Exhibition" of Iran started in the Persian Gulf Hall, located at the permanent location of Iran International Exhibitions, at about ten o'clock on Tuesday, February 23.
Affected by Coronavirus outbreak, the exhibition is in full observance of health protocols. "Ali Asghar Mounesan" the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism with a number of the representatives of the Parliament of Iran and foreign ambassadors in the country attended in the opening ceremony.
In the beginning of the opening ceremony, the achievements of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism of Iran was played by a clip. In this regard, some of them are as following the extraditions of historical objects to Iran (from foreign countries), restoration of monuments and inauguration of a number of museums.
Then , the Deputy of the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, “Vali Teymouri” gave a speech. He called the current situation of the world (affected by Coronavirus Pandemic) as the age of Fear and Hope. Teymouri also noted: in Tourism sector, two main policies have been followed by the current government of Iran. Firstly, the government has tried to implement plans which can pave the way for the distribution of tourist trips to all parts of Iran (tourist trips should not be limited or centralized to specific parts of the country). Secondly, international wise, the government has tried to define a targeted market of Tourism for Iran.
The Deputy of the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Tourism added: a record high of 9 million tourists visited Iran by the end of February of 2020. He said: "Unfortunately, with the onset of the global Corona crisis and the closure of borders, it caused the greatest damage to the tourism industry on a global scale. Of course we have tried to do our best to tackle the challenges of this issue (Coved Pandemic), Teymoury noted".
After the speech of Vali Teymouri, a Kurdish music band named "Zhevana" came on stage and performed.
Moving on, "Mohammad Reza Dashti Ardakani" the head of Tourism fraction in Iran’s Parliament) Islamic Consultative Assembly (was invited to give a speech. Dashti deeply emphasized on rural tourism and said: "we hope the government supports rural tourism. He also voiced hope that Tourism industry plays an important role to make sustainable income for Iran in next year".
After Dashti Ardakani’s speech, a local dance group from Ardebil named "IGIL LAR" came on the stage and performed.
At the end, "Ali Asghar Mounesan" the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Handcrafts and Tourism gave a speech. In the beginning of his words, Mounesan thanked the hope and happiness of the performances of art groups. He also appreciated from the workers of the health system for their efforts to tackle Coronavirus outbreak in Iran. "Covid-19 crisis and its extensive consequences aside, our country has been faced with widespread sanctions during recent 3 years. However, Iran’s tourism and handicrafts industry is still alive and even we have witnessed a rise in our incomes in this area", Mounesan added.
